Political Protest

My groups political protest piece is on how far does consent go in our society? so if someone says "No" half way through does the jury and judge see that as giving consent or not, this is known as the grey area of consent.

In our piece we are going to use cake and paint as a metaphor to convey sexual content, so three of us will be force feeding the other members of our group and no one (the audience) will do anything about it, this shows that there are a lot of bystanders in situations like this, not literally watching but knowing and not doing anything about it this is what our society has come to. Especially with people with high power and money in our society and nothing will be done because we are scared of the strength and influence the hold.

In society the actual definition of consent is in the grey area Is it a definite “yes,” or the absence of “no”? Can it be revoked? Does the amount of power someone holds come into play? Everyone has different definitions of consent one person’s idea of consent is that no one is screaming or crying. Another person’s idea of consent is someone saying, ‘Yes, I want to do this.’ And in between, is a massive area of unknown definitions.

Many victims argue that a power imbalance plays a role. Recently lots of accusations have come put accusing people of higher power to take advantage of those who don't have as much power,as in, for example, the rape allegations that have surfaced against music mogul Russell Simmons, which he denies.

Related imageOne of the main issues in consent is when someone us under the influence of alcohol, this is a big gray area because some people in society believe that if someone says yes straight away no matter if they are under the influence it automatically means that they gave consent.
